A new approach.

A little more serious approach to photomanipulation.

I haven’t done any photo manipulation in quite a while and must admit that if I ever did it was to distort things to the extreme or make digital collages. Recently I decided to edit a photo of Aldo and I for Mother’s day where I had a lot of hairs in my face and Aldo needed some make up :)

(Mom’s request I swear!)

Needless to say it was fun taking my photosabatoge a step further. But then I got a serious request to do some slight adjusting to a series of photos by a friend at work. Now I am not going to claim to be a professional photo editor but I really had fun with my project.

At first I went all the way and completely layered the face with “foundation” then went on to make the requested changes; one earring was broken so I had to hide the other, the lighting was a bit bleak, acne etc.

After going back and forth with the original a fine tuned version of the photo was made in order to stay truer to the young womans unique and distinguishing features which aren’t always neccesserily flaws. This brought me to the realization that when it comes to photos the more flaws the more realistic and successful the photo manipulation is.
